Amazon Graviton4 server CPU shown beating AMD and Intel processors in multiple benchmarks
Amazon's Graviton4 CPU outperforms AMD and Intel in various benchmarks, showing significant improvements in HPC and other workloads.
Amazon's AWS has struck gold with its Graviton4 server CPU, which surpasses both AMD's EPYC 'Genoa' and Intel processors in several performance benchmarks. With 96 Arm Neoverse V2 cores and 12 channels of DDR5-5600 RAM, it offers superior memory bandwidth and computational power compared to its predecessors.
Benchmark tests, conducted by Phoronix on Ubuntu 24.04, showed Graviton4 delivering outstanding results in HPC workloads like miniFE and Xcompact3d. In the ACES DGEMM HPC benchmark, it scored 71,131 points, significantly outperforming the AMD EPYC 9684X's 53,167 points.
Additionally, the Graviton4 showcased impressive results in 7-Zip compression and cryptography. After over 30 different workload tests, Phoronix concluded it to be the fastest Arm server processor to date, promising AWS a substantial edge in the server CPU market.
