AMD has introduced the Pensando Pollara 400, a game-changing network interface card offering 400 Gbps for AI and HPC applications. This NIC is engineered for efficient data transfer, focusing on GPU-to-GPU communication, and claims to boost performance sixfold compared to traditional solutions.

The Pollara 400 targets AI workloads through innovative designs like intelligent multipathing and a customizable hardware pipeline. It significantly reduces latency, improves throughput, and accelerates common AI communication libraries, effectively addressing Ethernet's existing shortcomings in meeting AI demands.

Despite the delayed Ultra Ethernet version 1.0, AMD's NIC is prepared to support AI and HPC requirements. It is expected to start sampling in late 2024 and become available commercially by early 2025, coinciding with the release of the new standard.
