AMD's B850 and B840 chipsets are likely to make their debut at CES 2025 as mid-range choices for the recently released Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs. For now, Ryzen 9000 adopters can use their new CPUs with 600-series motherboards, although BIOS updates might be necessary.

Vendors such as Asus displayed the new flagship X870 and X870E motherboards at Gamescom 2024, set for a September release. The more affordable B850 and B840 models were notably missing, reinforcing their 2025 launch schedule.

The X870 motherboards will offer advancements like 40Gbps USB 4.0 connections and simultaneous PCIe 5 lanes for NVMe SSDs and dedicated graphics cards.
