An Overwatch: Classic event will take fans all the way back to the beginning
Experience Overwatch 2's nostalgic 6v6 mode with original heroes, maps, and no hero limits.
Blizzard Entertainment unveils a 6v6 limited-time mode in Overwatch 2, beginning November 12, reminiscent of the game's launch in May 2016. Players have access to the original 21 heroes with their initial abilities, such as Hanzo regaining Scatter Arrow, while popular characters Kiriko and Sombra are unavailable.
The event will feature gameplay without hero selection limits initially, allowing compositions like four Winstons and two Lucios, and will transition to single hero limits in a few days. Original maps including assault maps like Hanamura, Temple of Anubis, and Volskaya Industries are reintroduced and will retain their Overwatch 2 reworks.
Featuring only the original default hero skins and retaining the current UI, Blizzard aims to evoke nostalgia and engage former players. This Overwatch: Classic event is just the beginning, with more events planned to explore other pivotal moments in the game's history, such as the GOATS meta.
