Anysphere, a startup founded by Michael Truell, Sualeh Asif, Arvid Lunnemark, and Aman Sanger during their time at MIT, has secured $60 million in Series A funding at a $400 million valuation. The round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Thrive Capital, with Stripe CEO Patrick Collison also participating.

The company has developed an AI-powered coding assistant named Cursor, which aims to help developers write code more efficiently. Last year, Anysphere raised $11 million in a seed round led by OpenAI Startup Fund, with contributions from former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman and Dropbox co-founder Arash Ferdowsi.

Investors are keen on AI coding assistants, driven by the success of GitHub Copilot, which has shown substantial revenue growth since its acquisition by Microsoft. Anysphere’s own revenue and usage have been growing rapidly as well, according to sources.
