Apple may ditch those old familiar USB-A ports in the new Mac mini
The new Mac mini will lose USB-A ports and feature USB-C ports and Apple's M4 chip.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is planning to remove USB-A ports from the new Mac mini models. These updated devices will now include Apple's new M4 chip along with five USB-C ports, an Ethernet port, an HDMI connector, and a headphone jack. This marks a significant change, as the Mac mini hasn’t been significantly redesigned since 2010.
The transition from USB-A to USB-C has left some users confused and searching for adapters. This adjustment, however, aims to streamline and modernize Apple's device ports, which have become thinner and more versatile over the years. The USB-A to USB-C shift allows for faster data transfer and improved connectivity options.
Apple has a 'Glowtime' press event scheduled for September 9, during which the new iPhone 16 is expected to be announced. However, details about the new Mac mini and other Mac devices may be revealed later in the fall. Users are eagerly awaiting these updates as Apple continues to push the boundaries of its product designs.
