Apple's Logic Pro for iPad and Mac can now save performances even if you forget to start recording
Apple's Logic Pro on iPad and Mac captures performances automatically.

Apple has introduced a significant update to Logic Pro for iPad and Mac, the renowned music production software. This update is headlined by the addition of Flashback Capture. This remarkable feature ensures that users' performances are automatically recorded even if they forget to press the record button. This is particularly useful for musicians who often find themselves playing spontaneously and the worry of missing out on capturing those perfect, unexpected moments is now alleviated.
The update also enhances the existing Stem Splitter feature, which now has expanded functionality to better separate different tracks. Stem Splitter can now accurately identify and split piano and guitar sections from audio files in addition to vocals, bass, and drums. This gives music producers more flexibility in managing their audio components separately. The Stem Splitter relies on AI technology embedded within Apple Silicon, specifically requiring M1 chips or newer, showcasing Apple’s strong emphasis on cutting-edge hardware synergy.
Integration of Apple Intelligence within the software’s Notepad function allows users to generate lyrics and other text-based music components by leveraging Apple’s AI models alongside ChatGPT. This dual innovation implies that artists can seamlessly invoke advanced AI processing to assist in creative writing, potentially revolutionizing how music production is approached in terms of both instrumental and lyrical content.
Users of Logic Pro can also benefit from new sound packs, with the Mac version featuring Magnetic Imperfections and Tosin Abasi packs while the iPad version introduces Dancefloor Rush, centered around drum and bass with themes echoing summer pop. Moreover, the iPad's new Learn MIDI feature facilitates ease of use in connecting and programming MIDI devices, supporting user customization of physical controls for an optimized experience.
These enhancements are provided at no additional cost to existing users, aligning with Apple's tradition of offering free updates to enhance user experience. Logic Pro remains priced at $199.99 for Mac and $5.99 monthly for iPad. This cost includes a one-month free trial on the iPad and a 90-day trial on Mac, encouraging users to explore the enriched possibilities presented by this latest update.
