: Apple has introduced a Live Activities widget within its News app to provide real-time Election Day updates directly on your iPhone or iPad's screen. Apple has released a new Live Activities widget in its News app that gives real-time election updates on both the Lock Screen and Home Screen of iPhones and iPads. Initially introduced with iOS 16 in 2022, this feature leverages the continuous update capability of widgets to keep users informed about live electoral counts across the U.S on Election Day.

To activate this feature, users need to open the News app and select the live updates banner. After this, they will receive a confirmation message saying 'Live Activity Scheduled,' ensuring they receive ongoing updates during the event. The iPad also benefits from this real-time functionality, having gained Live Activities support on its Lock Screen with iOS 17.

Beyond the widget, Apple News provides an 'America Votes 2024' hub for election-related content. This section offers in-depth coverage, voting guides, and news from pivotal states like Arizona and Pennsylvania. Users can also stay informed about different presidential candidates, reading stories focusing on issues like climate change and healthcare.
