Arm aims to challenge x86 dominance with faster CPUs and AI-enhanced GPUs
Arm is enhancing CPU and GPU efficiency with higher frequencies and AI-acceleration, targeting 2025 for new platform release.

Arm is targeting the x86 processor market by focusing on CPUs with higher operating frequencies and AI-accelerated GPUs. Arm's client business lead, Chris Bergey, announced these goals during an interview at CES, highlighting enhancements beyond current IPC capabilities.
Arm's GPU strategy includes AI technologies like low-resolution rendering and upscaling, akin to Nvidia's DLSS, to improve visual performance without increasing power usage. These advancements are expected to feature in Arm's next-generation platform, 'Arm CSS for Client,' set for release in 2025.
Beyond frequency enhancements, Arm is optimizing CPU designs on new semiconductor nodes, aiming for four gigahertz capabilities. Despite a recent court ruling, unresolved legal issues with Qualcomm continue to pose future challenges for Arm.
