Bill Gates warns youth of threats like AI, climate change, bioterrorism, and nuclear war.

Bill Gates has outlined four significant threats that young people should be concerned about: climate change, bioterrorism or another pandemic, the progression of advanced AI, and nuclear war. In an interview, he mentioned that his primary concern in his youth was nuclear war, but now additional threats have surfaced and must be addressed.
A 2023 survey indicated that two-thirds of Americans view AI as a threat to civilization. Professor Geoffrey Hinton, a notable figure in AI, left Google due to apprehensions over AI's rapid advancements. Gates is not against AI but sees potential in it addressing skill shortages like in medical fields or education.
Despite painting a seemingly bleak picture, Gates remains optimistic about the future, provided these issues are managed. He foresees advancements leading to cures or the eradication of major health issues such as obesity, Alzheimer's, HIV, polio, measles, and malaria. He also believes that the anticipation of these threats can motivate the younger generation to prevent them.
