Canon has developed a 410-megapixel full-frame sensor
Canon's new 410MP sensor offers extreme resolution, targeting surveillance, medical, and industrial applications.
Canon has launched a revolutionary 410-megapixel, full-frame CMOS sensor, marking the most pixels ever compacted into a 35mm sensor. This high-resolution sensor is expected to significantly benefit fields like surveillance, medicine, and industry, demanding extreme detail and resolution.
The new sensor's resolution is equivalent to 24K, 198 times greater than HD, and 12 times greater than 8K, allowing for detailed image cropping and enlargement. To achieve this feat, Canon implemented design changes, such as a redesigned circuitry pattern and a back-illuminated stacked formation, enhancing its capabilities.
Boasting a readout speed of 3,280 megapixels per second and an ability to record video at eight frames per second, the sensor can also produce 100-megapixel video at 24 frames per second in its monochrome version. Though not slated for consumer cameras, this technological advancement foreshadows future possibilities for enthusiasts seeking extreme photography performance.
