: Casio has introduced Moflin, a robot designed to provide comfort and emotional support by developing a simulated personality and emotional responses. At a price of approximately $398, customers can preorder this unique fuzzy pet which responds to its owner through learned recognition over time. An optional subscription is available for maintenance services. The robot's emotional states are monitored via an app, and it features a five-hour battery life.

Casio has launched preorders for its innovative robot pet named Moflin, designed to be a comforting companion that mimics emotional responses and learns to recognize its owner over time. Developed originally with Vanguard Industries, Moflin, priced at approximately $398 USD or ¥59,400, can be experienced starting November 7th. Potential buyers can opt for a Club Moflin subscription, offering discounts on repairs and cleaning, enhancing the ownership experience.

Unlike Sony's Aibo, which can move about autonomously, Moflin is tailored to be cuddled and held, fostering a simulated bond with its unique sounds and movements. Limited to head and body motions, the robot uses artificial intelligence to mimic behaviors such as happiness or anxiety depending on the user's level of interaction. Casio recommends this pet for mental wellness similar to their robotic cat model, Qoobo.

Moflin's emotional states, whether it's happy or stressed, are primarily interpreted through a companion app since the robot doesn't accurately display them. The app can adjust sound volumes as needed while the furry pet continues to rest in its charging bed when necessary. A full charge equals approximately five hours, and the robotics company estimates a quick nap charge in three-and-a-half hours.
