Death Stranding unexpectedly hits Xbox Series X/S

Death Stranding arrives on Xbox and Luna+, with discounts marking its fifth anniversary.

: Death Stranding has surprisingly become available on Xbox Series X/S and Amazon Luna+ for its fifth anniversary without prior notice. The game, starring Sam Porter Bridges, is now 50% off on several platforms except PlayStation, where it first launched in 2019. Kojima Productions has announced it now owns the intellectual property and is working on a sequel, among other projects. The sequel, a PS5 exclusive, is expected next year, and a Death Stranding movie is also in production.

Death Stranding has unexpectedly arrived on Xbox Series X/S and is available to Amazon Luna+ members at no additional cost. The game’s release coincides with its fifth anniversary and is marked by a 50% discount on Xbox, PC, iOS, and Mac platforms, though this discount is not available for PlayStation users, where Sony is the publisher; 505 Games manages the game on other platforms.

In Death Stranding, players take on the role of Sam Porter Bridges, who attempts to reconnect the United States' survivors following a disastrous event. The strange mechanics involving an unborn fetus in a bottle contribute to its allure and uniqueness, making it one of the notable gaming experiences of the past decade.

Kojima Productions revealed that it now fully controls the Death Stranding IP, previously shared with Sony. Alongside this, there is a sequel planned as a PS5 exclusive, along with other projects like a Death Stranding movie, an Xbox horror game titled OD, and an action-espionage game for PlayStation.
