Dragon's Dogma 2: another impressive PS5 Pro upgrade marred by PSSR issues
Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5 Pro improves performance but has persistent image issues.

Dragon's Dogma 2 on PS5 Pro introduces significant upgrades, providing a way to achieve 60 frames per second with the PSSR upscaling for sharper visuals. However, image quality challenges persist, notably with pixellation and flickering on fine elements such as grass and ray-traced global illumination.
The game features three graphics modes on the PS5 Pro: performance, balanced, and graphics, each with varying resolution targets and different impacts on image quality. Performance mode works at 720p, balanced at 1080p, and graphics at 1440p, each reconstructed to 4K via PSSR, which results in varying degrees of visual noise.
While the PS5 Pro delivers distinct improvements in frame rate, boosting by up to 40% in graphics mode compared to the base PS5, the Pro patch's graphical issues need addressing, particularly the unwanted flicker due to PSSR. Overall, the upgrade is a performance win but requires further development to refine image quality.
