Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree - long-standing tech issues remain unaddressed

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion retains performance issues across PS5, Series X|S, and PC, without significant improvements in two years.

: Shadow of the Erdtree, the new expansion for Elden Ring, fails to address the game's long-standing performance issues on PS5, Series X|S, and PC. Despite new content and additional gameplay hours, technical shortcomings persist. Both console and PC versions continue to experience notable frame-rate drops and stutter problems.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, released more than two years after the original game, continues to suffer from performance issues across PS5, Series X|S, and PC. Despite a beautifully designed expansion adding approximately 50% more content, developer FromSoftware has not significantly improved the game's technical performance.

On PS5, frame-rate drops below 60fps persist in various modes, even with dynamic resolution adjustments. Similar issues are seen on Series X, which also suffers from unsteady frame rates, though it manages them slightly better due to a more flexible VRR range.

The PC version remains largely unchanged since the game's initial release, continuing to face frame-time spikes and no support for modern upscalers. These technical issues persist despite Elden Ring's financial success, highlighting a recurring neglect of performance optimization by FromSoftware.
