Elon Musk staffer created a DOGE AI assistant for making government ‘less dumb’
An AI assistant by Elon Musk's staff aids government efficiency using xAI's Grok-2, embracing AI but raising concerns.

Christopher Stanley, a senior figure at SpaceX and the White House, has created an AI chatbot intended to reduce governmental inefficiencies. Powered by xAI’s Grok-2, this assistant is accessible via a DOGE-named subdomain on Stanley's website and claims to help government personnel eliminate waste based on five guiding principles.
The AI provides advice on various matters, including streamlining processes within agencies like USAID. It recommends eliminating bureaucracies and suggests political leaders Margaret Thatcher and Lee Kuan Yew as efficiency models, focusing on technology use.
While the chatbot aims to assist government modernization efforts, it struggles with the common AI issue of hallucination and occasionally offers impractical solutions. Concerns also arise regarding a possible conflict of interest for Musk, given that government use could boost xAI's revenue due to API charges.
