Elon Musk wants to block the transfer of InfoWars’ X accounts to The Onion

Musk objects to The Onion's acquisition of InfoWars' X accounts.

: Elon Musk is contesting the transfer of InfoWars' X accounts to The Onion, which won a bankruptcy auction for Alex Jones' assets. Musk claims X accounts belong to X Corporation per platform terms, disallowing their sale. Previously, Musk reinstated these accounts for free speech despite prior bans. Musk's objection focuses solely on X accounts, not the broader sale.

Elon Musk opposes the transfer of InfoWars' X accounts to The Onion after the satirical publication won a bankruptcy auction for Alex Jones' assets. He asserts that X Corporation, which he owns, retains the rights to these accounts, preventing their sale through the platform's terms of service.

Previously, in 2023, Musk reinstated InfoWars' and Alex Jones' X accounts to champion free speech. This followed their permanent ban in 2018 under Twitter's previous leadership due to abusive content violations.

While Musk disputes the transfer of these specific X accounts, a federal judge may hold an evidentiary hearing to decide the auction's outcome. This process affects only the social media accounts, not the overall sale of Free Speech Systems to The Onion.
