Final Fantasy 14's new 7.0 graphics update transforms PC, PS5 and Series X
Final Fantasy XIV's 7.0 update brings enhanced graphics, including improvements to lighting, shadows, and upscaling on PC, PS5, and Series X.
Final Fantasy XIV's major 7.0 graphical update provides numerous enhancements to the game's visual fidelity on PC, PS5, and Series X. Key improvements include new ambient occlusion methods (GTAO), advanced soft shadows, and enhanced lighting effects, as well as DLSS upscaling on PC.
The update also adds 120Hz support on new-generation consoles and reworked textures and models to make the game more modern. However, there are some bugs and inconsistencies, such as issues with shadow diffusion and anti-aliasing methods on current-gen consoles.
Despite these setbacks, the graphics overhaul represents a significant commitment by Square Enix to keep Final Fantasy XIV technologically relevant. The update prepares the game for future content while making it more visually appealing for players across various platforms.
