Fortnite is back on the iPhone — with a whole app store in tow

Fortnite returns to EU iOS via Epic's new mobile store after four years, thanks to EU's Digital Markets Act.

: Fortnite is back on iOS in the European Union via two new stores: the Epic Games Store and AltStore PAL. The launch follows extensive litigation and EU regulatory changes. While currently limited, Epic aims to expand globally and attract third-party developers.

Fortnite has returned to iOS in the European Union four years after its removal by Apple, now available via Epic's new mobile store and AltStore PAL. This development follows prolonged litigation between Epic and Apple and regulatory changes introduced by the EU’s Digital Markets Act, compelling Apple to permit alternate app stores.

Epic plans to further expand its presence on Aptoide’s iOS store in the EU and the ONE Store on Android. They have also announced the simultaneous worldwide update for Fortnite and the inclusion of other titles like Rocket League Sideswipe and the mobile version of Fall Guys, although iOS users face a discrepancy in the required iOS version for installation.

Despite hurdles, including Apple's core technology fees that could deter developers, Epic is aggressively pursuing third-party collaborations and envisions scaling their mobile store extensively. The company aims to secure 100 million net new installations by the year's end and hopes that regulatory changes will further ease these processes.
