Fortnite’s new season leans heavily on heist mechanics

Fortnite's latest season, Lawless, focuses on heist mechanics and introduces new characters and locations.

Fortnite's Chapter 6: Season 2, titled Lawless, immerses players in a world filled with criminal activities, allowing them to embark on heist missions similar to those found in the Grand Theft Auto series. This season reintroduces the thrill of robbing banks, stealing from armored vehicles, and even raiding the train on Fortnite's island.

New locations accompany these changes, including the urban Crime City and game enhancements like gold water that boosts player stats, black markets for high-end weapons, and scanners to locate enemies. Players can use the newly introduced virtual currency, Dill Bits coins, to purchase gear from within the game, boasting more utility than most real-world cryptocurrencies.

The Lawless season brings a selection of new characters through its battle pass, including the quirky rapper Big Dill and the unexpected addition of Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero. Starting March 1, players can also engage in Cowboy Bebop quests, dressing up as characters Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine, with the season continuing until May 2, highlighting Fortnite's ever-evolving and expansive world.
