Future Artemis III astronauts will wear Prada during their spacewalks
Prada and Axiom create a new spacesuit for NASA's Artemis III mission.
At the International Astronautical Congress in Milan, Axiom and Prada showcased their collaborative effort in spacesuit design for NASA's Artemis program. The AxEMU, nearing completion, reflects a harmonious blend of advanced engineering and Italian style, thanks to Prada's innovative sewing techniques and material expertise.
The spacesuit is equipped with features enhancing astronaut safety and mobility, such as 4G/LTE communication and biometric monitoring. Its design also incorporates a monolithic architecture to evolve alongside future NASA exploration, boasting custom-fit gloves and boots for lunar conditions.
The suit facilitates extensive spacewalks, providing oxygen for over eight hours, and includes systems for performing scientific tests on the moon. Scheduled for the Artemis III mission in 2025, this suits aim to aid American and European astronauts' return to the lunar surface and prepare for ambitious goals in Mars exploration.
