Google Maps introduced speedometer and speed limits on iOS and CarPlay, more than five years after these features first appeared on Android. TechCrunch reported that these features were spotted in India last week, and Google confirmed the global rollout on Tuesday.

Users can activate the speedometer and speed limits by accessing the settings on their Google Maps app. The speed limits feature changes colors on the speed indicator to encourage users to drive within the speed limit set in their region.

Google emphasized on a support page that the speedometer is for informational purposes only, advising users to rely on their vehicle’s speedometer for confirming their actual driving speed. Initially launched on Android in 2019, these features were expanded to over 40 countries shortly after their debut.
