Google has announced the pricing for its AI video model, Veo 2, which was first unveiled in December. The service is set at 50 cents per second, translating to $30 for a minute of video and $1,800 for an hour.

Jon Barron, a researcher at Google DeepMind, highlighted the cost differences by comparing Veo 2 with high-budget productions like Marvel's 'Avengers: Endgame,' which had a production budget amounting to $32,000 per second. Veo 2's ability to generate clips of two minutes or more was a key feature highlighted upon its release.

Despite the pricing, it's unlikely that Veo 2 will immediately replace full-length movie productions or that customers will fully utilize every second they purchase. OpenAI has also entered the video generation realm with its Sora model, available through a $200 monthly ChatGPT Pro subscription.
