House Democrats press Mark Zuckerberg on Meta’s policy changes
House Democrats press Zuckerberg on Meta's policy timing, questioning its alignment with Trump's administration.

House Democrats are pressing Mark Zuckerberg over recent policy shifts at Meta, expressing concern that these moves align with currying favor with the Trump Administration. These changes involve loosening content moderation, ending diversity programs, and halting third-party fact-checking as Trump takes office.
The legislators' letter demands details from Zuckerberg, questioning if Trump's threats influenced these decisions. They also inquire about any discussions between Zuckerberg and Trump’s representatives concerning the Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust case against Meta.
The letter highlights contradictions with Zuckerberg's past comments promoting the Oversight Board for accountability. Concerns were also raised about his statements on 'masculine energy’ in light of the company's leadership being predominantly female. A deadline of February 21, 2025, was set for Zuckerberg's response, while Meta declined further comment.
