Huawei releases newest version of driver-assist system, takes on Tesla’s FSD
Huawei unveils new driver assistance system and luxury sedan, challenging Tesla in autonomous driving.
Huawei announced its new advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) on Tuesday, promising that it will enable cars to perform most driving tasks automatically from garage to garage while offering improved safety compared to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei’s Intelligent Automotive Solution business unit, highlighted that the system can navigate complex urban environments and public parking lots autonomously, enhancing decision-making speed and emergency braking capabilities.
Simultaneously, Huawei launched the Stelato S9, the first model under its new luxury brand developed with BAIC, priced between RMB 399,800 and RMB 449,800. This full-size luxury sedan targets customers of premium vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, featuring a 100 kWh battery with a driving range of up to 816 kilometers and a drag coefficient of 0.193, the lowest in its segment.
The Stelato S9 also introduced several advanced technologies including a lidar unit to complement cameras and radar for enhanced autonomous driving. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and can add 200 kilometers of range in five minutes with an 800-volt fast charger, demonstrating BAIC’s commitment to their partnership by prioritizing this model and expanding production capacity to meet future demands.
