Intel foundry customers have successfully powered on 18A node engineering samples
Intel's 18A node reaches a milestone, progressing towards 2025 launch.
Intel's foundry customers have successfully powered on engineering samples of the 18A node, signaling a key milestone towards its mid-to-late 2025 launch. This pivotal achievement reflects Intel's ongoing efforts to regain its competitive edge against major semiconductor players like TSMC and Samsung.
Interim co-CEO Michelle Johnston Holthaus confirmed the delivery of these samples at the Barclays Annual Global Technology Conference. The Panther Lake processors, set to debut with the 18A node, mark a critical step for Intel, incorporating advancements such as RibbonFET and PowerVia that enhance performance efficiency.
Despite previous challenges, including former CEO Pat Gelsinger's resignation and yield-rate concerns, Intel's progress with the 18A node fosters optimism. The node's integration into future technology, alongside efforts to improve performance and efficiency, represents a potential turnaround for the company.
