Intel’s crashing 13th and 14th Gen CPUs get two additional years of warranty coverage

Intel extends warranty for 13th and 14th Gen CPUs by 2 years due to instability issues caused by elevated voltage.

: Intel will extend the warranty of their 13th and 14th Gen Core processors by two years. This move aims to support customers experiencing instability issues. The original three-year warranty for boxed CPUs will now be five years. The instability is linked to elevated operating voltage, and a patch will address the root cause.

Intel has announced they will extend the warranty of their 13th and 14th Gen Core processors by two years due to instability issues. This change comes after customers reported problems potentially damaging their CPUs, which already had a three-year limited warranty, now extended to five years.

The primary cause of the instability was identified as an elevated operating voltage. Intel is working on a patch expected by mid-August to address the root cause; however, the patch will not repair any already damaged chips. As a solution, affected processors will need to be replaced.

In an official statement, Intel's Thomas Hannaford confirmed the commitment to supporting affected customers through the exchange process. Intel is also exploring ways to easily identify impacted processors in user systems and has apologized for the delays in communication as they continue to investigate the issue.
