Johnny Depp’s second directorial project, 'Modi — Three Days on the Wings of Madness,' will premiere next month at the San Sebastian Film Festival. This biopic, starring Riccardo Scamarcio as Italian painter Amedeo Modigliani, will be showcased in the festival’s out of competition category, focusing on a chaotic 72-hour period in Paris during World War I. Along with Scamarcio, the film features Stephen Graham, Al Pacino, and Antonia Desplat in pivotal roles.

Depp's return to directing comes after his 1997 film 'The Brave,’ which was critically panned. 'Modi' is one of Depp’s major projects post his 2022 legal victory over ex-wife Amber Heard in a highly publicized defamation trial. Despite the court win, the controversy affected his career, marking his significant return to the festival circuit in 2023 with a role in Maïwenn’s 'Jeanne du Barry.'

Depp expressed his gratitude towards the cast, crew, and producers, calling the filmmaking process an 'incredibly fulfilling and transformative experience.' He particularly acknowledged Al Pacino's insistence on him directing the film. Depp emphasized 'Modi' as a testament to independent filmmaking's collaborative spirit, eager to present this compelling story to the world.
