Lenovo's crazy "Auto Twist" PC can turn and face you automatically

Lenovo’s new AI-powered Auto Twist PC features an innovative motorized hinge, voice commands, and face tracking but is slow and possibly impractical.

: Lenovo unveiled the Auto Twist AI PC, which uses AI to follow user movements and switch modes via voice commands. While the concept is innovative, the motorized hinge is slow and the practicality is questionable. Lenovo sees potential in elements like face tracking for future products. AI PCs are becoming more prevalent, with IDC predicting 60% market penetration by 2027.

Lenovo introduced the Auto Twist AI PC, a new concept laptop that can track user movements with AI and switch between different modes using voice commands. The device features a motorized hinge that rotates the display, making it useful for video calls, but the hinge's slow response time and possible durability issues are concerns.

The Verge observed that while voice commands function well, the slow hinge might make manual folding more convenient. Lenovo describes the Auto Twist as a proof of concept to demonstrate the potential for AI in making adaptable computers, even if the current model seems impractical.

AI PCs are on the rise, with IDC forecasting they will account for nearly 60 percent of PC shipments by 2027. Companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Nvidia are also pushing AI integration, showcasing various applications in both hardware and software, such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
