Logitech’s $80 supercapacitor gaming mouse is the most versatile it’s ever made

Logitech's $80 G309 wireless gaming mouse features versatile connectivity, dual wireless modes, and can be used with a supercapacitor or an AA battery.

: Logitech introduces the G309, an $80 versatile wireless gaming mouse compatible with Powerplay, Bluetooth, and Lightspeed. It offers up to 300 hours with Lightspeed and up to 600 hours over Bluetooth. The mouse weighs 68 grams without the AA battery and includes the Hero 25K sensor and hybrid optomechanical switches.

Logitech has unveiled the G309, a new gaming mouse priced at $80 that brings versatility to wireless gaming peripherals. This device is notable for its compatibility with both Powerplay and Bluetooth, as well as its ability to use either a supercapacitor or an AA battery for power, making it the first Logitech mouse to offer such a range of options.

Nicolas Métral, Logitech's senior global product manager, highlights that the G309 promises up to 300 hours of use with its Lightspeed wireless dongle and up to 600 hours over Bluetooth. The mouse is lightweight at just 68 grams without the AA battery, made possible by the supercapacitor that gets continuously charged by the Powerplay mousepad.

Despite being on the more affordable end of the spectrum, the G309 doesn't compromise on performance, featuring the same Hero 25K sensor and hybrid optomechanical switches found in Logitech's premium mice. However, it lacks the dual-mode ratcheting/free-spinning scroll wheel, a feature currently exclusive to the G502 and G903 models. Logitech aims to address the promise of 'Wireless Play for All' but acknowledges that the $120 price of the Powerplay mousepad might still be a barrier for some users.
