Mark Rober's lightning-fast robot can win at rock-paper-scissors 100% of the time
Mark Rober's robot, Rocky, wins rock-paper-scissors 100% with hand-tracking; a $10,000 prize awaits any victor.

Mark Rober, a YouTuber and former NASA engineer, has created a robot named Rocky that can unfailingly win at rock-paper-scissors. Rocky utilizes an advanced hand-tracking system that monitors an opponent's hand movements 100 times per second, allowing it to predict and counter their moves instantaneously.
This sophisticated system operates by feeding the observed data into a mini-computer inside Rocky, which processes and directs the robotic hand to make the best possible counter move. Despite previous studies identifying strategies that could increase human players' odds to 75 percent, Rober claims that the chance against Rocky stands at zero.
Rocky's speed in interpreting hand gestures makes it appear as if the bot predicts an opponent's move, negating any strategy. Rober is confident enough in Rocky's capabilities that he promises a $10,000 award for anyone who beats it. The design of Rocky draws parallels to the 2013 robotic creation Janken by the Ishikawa Group, which also boasted a 100 percent success rate with similar technology.
