May Mobility, an emerging force in autonomous vehicle technology, unveiled a new electric autonomous minibus developed in partnership with Tecnobus at CES 2025. The Ann Arbor-based company, known for its on-demand and fixed-route autonomous shuttles, will be augmenting its fleet of Toyota Sienna minivans with this new vehicle, capable of seating up to 30 passengers, including those with wheelchairs, by late 2026.

These upcoming Tecnobus minibuses are designed for a variety of environments, including urban transit, corporate campuses, airports, and planned communities. A distinguishing feature is the swappable batteries, which greatly reduce downtime. Notably, the new minibus model has already achieved approval for deployment in Europe and Canada, expanding May Mobility's reach.

Currently, the startup operates in several locations including Arlington, Texas; Detroit, Michigan; and Grand Rapids, Minnesota, with an emerging presence in Japan through a partnership with telecom giant NTT for a pilot project in Nagoya and deployments in Tokyo and Fukuoka. Furthermore, May Mobility is pushing the boundaries of driverless technology with a recent deployment in Ann Arbor to test capabilities without a human driver.
