MealMe, the startup integrating food ordering tech into apps, picks up $8M

MealMe secured $8M in Series A to expand its food ordering API pivoted to B2B, serving over 100 companies in the US and Canada.

: MealMe has successfully secured $8 million in a Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $16 million. Initially launched as a consumer app in 2019, MealMe has transitioned to a B2B model, offering a unified API for apps and websites to integrate food ordering capabilities. The API serves over 100 clients and connects more than 1.2 million grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers in the U.S. and Canada. The Series A round was led by Mercury Fund, with participation from Gaingels and Palm Drive Capital.

MealMe announced securing $8 million in Series A funding, raising its total to $16 million. Originally a consumer app from 2019, MealMe assisted users in finding the best delivery deals before evolving into a platform allowing direct food orders.

The company shifted its focus from a consumer app to a B2B model, providing its API to businesses that integrate ordering solutions into their platforms. This pivot allows customers access to real-time data and ordering from over 1.2 million stores in the U.S. and Canada, with current clients like Fantuan Delivery and TripAdvisor.

Matthew Bouchner, co-founder and president, emphasized their role in embedded commerce, foreseeing a future where ordering is integrated into various consumer platforms. With funds led by Mercury Fund, MealMe aims to bolster marketing efforts and expand their team to support growth into broader e-commerce and AI applications.
