Microsoft Bing receives a free Sora-powered AI video generator
Bing's free Sora integration allows text-to-video, saving users fees.

Microsoft Bing has introduced a new functionality called Bing Video Creator to its app that incorporates OpenAI's Sora model. This integration marks the debut of Sora's video generation feature, providing users the capability to create videos using text inputs without a fee. Previously, OpenAI had restricted access to Sora's video generation to its paying customers only. By partnering with Microsoft, the accessibility of this tool has been significantly expanded, allowing a broader range of users to create AI-generated content easily.
Upon launch, the Bing Video Creator is not yet accessible on desktop platforms, with generation times noted to be lengthy despite the availability of a 'fast' mode that is supposed to render video within minutes. Users are eligible to produce up to ten video clips for free once they log into their Microsoft account. After utilizing these initial free clips, additional video generations will require 100 Microsoft Rewards points each.
The Microsoft Rewards system captures points through activities such as searching via Bing or purchasing goods at the Microsoft Store. For instance, Bing searches on PC may reward users with five points per search, subject to a daily limit of 150 points. This structure encourages engagement with Microsoft's services as a way to unlock additional AI-driven video content.
Currently, videos through Bing Video Creator can only be generated in a 9:16 vertical aspect ratio, which is conducive to sharing on platforms like TikTok or Instagram. Users have the potential to queue up to three five-second video creations at any given time. The option to produce horizontal format videos is anticipated shortly, offering flexibility to users wishing to target different platforms or creative expressions.
This new video generation tool exemplifies Microsoft's ongoing strategic collaboration with OpenAI and highlights their commitment to enhancing user capabilities through integrating advanced AI technologies into accessible platforms.
