Netflix drops a gory new trailer for Terminator Zero, an anime from the studio behind Ghost in the Shell
Netflix unveils a gory trailer for the anime Terminator Zero from Production I.G. premiering August 29.
Netflix has revealed a gory new trailer for its upcoming anime, Terminator Zero, produced by Skydance and Japanese animation studio, Production I.G., famous for Ghost in the Shell and Psycho-Pass. Set in the years 2022 and 1997, the storyline revolves around new characters Eiko and scientist Malcolm Lee, who is being hunted by a Terminator.
Fittingly, the series premieres on August 29, the date corresponding with the fictional Judgment Day event from Terminator 2. Netflix released a six-minute preview of the show's tense opening on its companion site, Tudum, featuring a nightmare version of 2022 before shifting back to 1997.
The plot then takes Eiko to 1997 to protect Malcolm Lee, played by André Holland, who is developing a new AI system to counter Skynet's impending attack on humanity. The story explores the moral complexities of Malcolm's creation as he is pursued by a relentless assassin from the future, affecting the fate of his three children. The first season comprises eight episodes.
