No Man's Sky hits "Very Positive" Steam rating, 8 years after disastrous launch
No Man's Sky hits 'Very Positive' on Steam 8 years after launch.
No Man's Sky has reached a 'Very Positive' rating on Steam after eight years since its challenging launch. Hello Games, the developer, has continually released updates and content, raising the space exploration game above initial failings in features like multiplayer and graphical accuracy.
In 2016, No Man’s Sky faced severe backlash due to unmet promises and numerous bugs, prompting demands for refunds and causing player numbers to dip drastically. However, by making consistent improvements, the game improved its ratings from 'Overwhelmingly Negative' initially, to 'Mixed' at two years, to 'Mostly Positive' by 2021.
CEO Sean Murray celebrated this achievement, expressing on platform X how significant this was for the developers. Despite initial reactions similar to those faced by Cyberpunk 2077, both games have seen large-scale redemption and engagement from their communities, proving that enduring efforts can lead to revived success.
