Nvidia confirms black screen fix for RTX 5000 graphics cards, driver update coming this week

Nvidia to release a fix for RTX 5000 black screen issues this week.

: Nvidia is addressing black screen issues affecting RTX 5000, 40, and 30-series GPUs, with a driver update arriving this week. A VBIOS update for the MSI Gaming Trio RTX 5080 successfully fixed the problem, boosting card performance. Users without the VBIOS update can expect a driver fix soon. This issue, alongside missing ROP units in RTX cards, reflects a problematic RTX 5000 launch.

Nvidia has begun addressing black screen and system instability issues affecting their RTX 5000, 40, and 30-series graphics cards. These problems, highlighted after Nvidia's 572.16 driver release, mostly impact the RTX 5000 series, causing stuttering, crashes, and blue screens of death.

To resolve these issues, some users resorted to capping refresh rates, a less than ideal solution for high-performance gaming. However, Nvidia recently identified the problem, confirming a VBIOS update resolved the black screen issue for MSI Gaming Trio RTX 5080 users, even enhancing performance.

An Nvidia representative assured that a broader driver update will be released this week for users without the VBIOS update. The problematic RTX 5000 series release has faced additional challenges, including poor generational improvements and cards missing ROP units, further complicating Nvidia's current situation.
