Nvidia launches RTX 50 Blackwell GPUs: $2,000 RTX 5090, $1,000 RTX 5080, RTX 5070 / Ti are $549 and $749

Nvidia debuts RTX 50 GPUs with new features and pricing at CES 2025.

: Nvidia unveiled its RTX 50 Blackwell GPUs, including the RTX 5090 priced at $2,000, RTX 5080 at $1,000, and RTX 5070/Ti models priced at $549 and $749, respectively. The new series boasts improved performance using the DLSS 4 technology, which allows multi-frame generation and optimizing frame rates. Nvidia has enhanced CUDA cores, memory bandwidth, and VRAM capacity across these models, while introducing updated connectivity features like PCIe 5.0 x16. The launch promises significant value and performance enhancements, though with some doubts regarding DLSS 4’s impact on latency and quality.

Nvidia announced its RTX 50 Blackwell series of graphics cards, featuring models RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 at prices ranging from $2,000 to $550. Set to launch late January and February, these GPUs promise substantial improvements in CUDA cores, memory capacity, and bandwidth, while utilizing Nvidia's new DLSS 4 technology for enhanced gaming performance.

The RTX 5090's architecture elevates it to flagship status with a 33% increase in SM count and nearly 80% improved memory bandwidth over its predecessor. However, the RTX 5080, despite being positioned as a high-tier model, shows a reduction in core components compared to the RTX 5090, demonstrating a widening performance gap.

DLSS 4 is exclusive to the Blackwell GPUs, introducing multi-frame generation that touts triple the frames per real frame rendered. Nvidia claims a notable improvement in the new series’ cost-per-frame value, yet anticipates needing further tests to substantiate these figures.
