Nvidia reveals that 150 RTX A6000 GPUs power the Las Vegas Sphere
Nvidia's 150 RTX A6000 GPUs power Las Vegas Sphere's 1.2M LEDs and interior 16K display, using BlueField DPUs and Rivermax Software.
Nvidia has announced that its hardware is responsible for the stunning visuals both inside and outside the Las Vegas Sphere. The exterior, known as the Exosphere, is equipped with 1.2 million LED pucks, each containing 48 programmable LEDs, all powered by 150 RTX A6000 GPUs, totaling around $750,000 in hardware costs.
The Sphere, which opened on September 29, 2023, after $2.3 billion in construction costs, features a massive 250-foot high, 16K x 16K interior display covering 160,000 square feet. This setup requires substantial hardware and networking technology, including Nvidia's BlueField DPUs, ConnectX-6 Dx NICs, and Rivermax Software, which help synchronize the visuals with sub-microsecond precision.
Content for the Sphere is created by Sphere Studios in Burbank and transferred to the Las Vegas site. The real-time streaming to rack-mounted RTX A6000 GPUs ensures high-resolution performance, delivering 16K resolution at 60 frames per second, complemented by advanced sound systems, haptic feedback seats, and atmospheric effects like wind and scents.
