Nvidia RTX 5050, 5060, and 5060 Ti specs leaked, slight core and TDP boosts expected
Nvidia's RTX 5050, 5060, and 5060 Ti offer minor VRAM and core upgrades amid mixed reactions.

The upcoming Nvidia RTX 5050, 5060, and 5060 Ti graphics cards have been leaked by a well-known source, Kopite7kimi, revealing a series of numbers that suggest these models will include minor upgrades. The RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti are set to see improvements with an increase in their CUDA core count and power consumption or TDP. The 5060 will move from 3072 to 3850 CUDA cores, while the 5060 Ti will see an increase from 4352 to 4608 cores. Furthermore, their TDPs are rising from 115W and 165W to 150W and 180W, pushing the overall performance capabilities of these GPUs slightly beyond their predecessors.
One of the most significant pieces of news from this leak is that both the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti will still come with only 8GB of VRAM, a number that hasn't changed for Nvidia's mainstream products in several generations now. This retention of 8GB VRAM comes despite the implementation of faster GDDR7 memory, although the 5060 Ti is expected to have a 16GB variant. The only exception is the high-end RTX 5090, which offers more VRAM than its predecessor. The RTX 5050, on the other hand, closely follows the specifications of the RTX 3050 with 2560 CUDA cores, a power draw of 130W, and 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
Anticipated to be marketed as budget-friendly options for high refresh rate monitors at 460Hz and 500Hz, the new Nvidia graphics cards are intended to appeal to gamers still using 1080p resolutions. However, the continuous limitation to 8GB of VRAM might deter some consumers. Competitive pressures are coming from other players, like Intel's Arc B580, which offers 12GB of memory, potentially delivering better value propositions.
The outlook for the new Blackwell lineup seems mixed, with expectations grounded on previous generations' performance trends. Although higher-end cards like the RTX 5070 have shown marginal improvements over earlier models, user demand, as indicated by Steam hardware surveys, traditionally favors the 60 series GPUs. This pattern suggests the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti could gain substantial traction, especially among consumers looking to upgrade from much older models.
Nvidia is expected to make an official announcement regarding the new RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti by March 13, 2025, with these graphics cards anticipated to become available next month. Clear information on the clock speeds of these RTX models remains undisclosed as of now. As these leaks circulate, gamers and industry observers are closely watching for competitive responses from AMD, whose Radeon RX 9060 and RX 9050 might present alternative options.
