NVIDIA unveils RTX 5060 GPUs, pricing starts at $299.

: NVIDIA announces its budget-friendly GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs, introducing the RTX 5060 with a starting price of $299. The RTX 5060 Ti comes in two variants, priced at $379 for 8GB and $429 for 16GB, available from April 16. These GPUs support DLSS 4 upscaling and 4X multi-frame generation, enhancing performance but actual consumer prices may fluctuate. The company's benchmark indicates significant fps improvements over previous models.

In a recent move, NVIDIA announced its new series of GeForce RTX 50-series graphics processing units (GPUs), with the RTX 5060 starting at $299. An enticing option for gamers focused on budget-friendly upgrades, the RTX 5060 retains the same launch price as its predecessor, the RTX 4060, from two years ago. However, NVIDIA has not clarified how widely available these GPUs will be at their initial price point due to the unpredictable GPU market and ongoing economic fluctuations affected by tariff policies, particularly those from the previous U.S. administration.

The RTX 5060 Ti is offered in two models: the 8GB variant is priced at $379, and the 16GB version is available at $429. Both these advanced versions provide increased performance as they come equipped with 4,608 CUDA cores and enhanced GDDR7 RAM options. Notably, these GPUs boast NVIDIA's Blackwell shader cores that add 6 TFLOPS more performance compared to the standard RTX 5060, making them well-suited for higher resolution gaming experiences reaching up to 1,440p.

Performance metrics released by NVIDIA suggest remarkable upgrades. The RTX 5060 is capable of achieving 234 fps on 'Hogwarts Legacy' at 1080p with max settings, alongside significant gains in other games like 'Cyberpunk 2077' where it can reach 148 fps. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 Ti, designed for 1,440p gaming, can hit 108 fps in 'Cyberpunk 2077' under Full RT graphics settings, demonstrating a doubled performance over its predecessor the 4060 Ti with the help of DLSS 4.

NVIDIA has also hinted at a mobile iteration of the RTX 5060 targeted at laptops, starting at $1,099, although detailed specifications remain undisclosed. This mobile version promises to deliver 146 fps in 'Cyberpunk 2077' at 1080p with ultra settings, showcasing the significant strides NVIDIA has made in optimizing its mobile GPUs for power-efficient high performance.

While the enhancements in DLSS 4 technology and other performance improvements make the RTX 5060 series a compelling choice, the volatility in pricing remains a challenge. The affordability largely depends on external economic conditions and how competitors like AMD respond with their offerings, potentially influencing the availability and pricing dynamics. Devindra Hardawar, among other tech editors, highlights these complexities as key considerations for potential buyers in the increasingly competitive GPU market.
