OpenAI plans to integrate Sora video generator into ChatGPT.

: OpenAI is planning to integrate its video generation tool, Sora, directly into ChatGPT, expanding its current separate web app availability. Product lead Rohan Sahai discusses plans for broader accessibility but notes potential limits in controls within ChatGPT compared to the web app. This move might attract more users to ChatGPT and encourage premium subscriptions. OpenAI is also developing a Sora-powered image generator and seeking to expand Sora's capabilities.

OpenAI has announced plans to integrate its AI video generation tool, Sora, into ChatGPT, a popular consumer chatbot app. Sora, currently available as a web app, allows users to create up to 20-second-long video clips. Rohan Sahai, OpenAI's product lead for Sora, mentioned during a Discord session that the company is working on bringing Sora to ChatGPT, though specific timelines were not disclosed. Sahai explained that the ChatGPT version might offer different controls compared to the web app.

Initially targeted at creatives and video production studios, Sora is now being positioned to appeal to a broader audience. Integrating it with ChatGPT may attract users and increase ChatGPT's premium subscriptions by possibly offering higher video generation limits. Maintaining ChatGPT's simplicity was a reason for Sora's initial web app launch, Sahai shared. Additionally, OpenAI has enhanced Sora's web functionality, enabling users to interact with community-created content.

Expanding Sora's functionalities, OpenAI has plans to develop an AI image generator powered by Sora. This tool could create photorealistic images, offering a supplement to the existing DALL-E 3 model within ChatGPT. Sahai also talked about the development of a new version of Sora Turbo, advancing Sora's capabilities. OpenAI expresses interest in creating a Sora mobile app and is actively seeking mobile engineers.
