Panasonic Lumix ZS99 launches to keep the point-and-shoot alive

: Panasonic has launched the Lumix ZS99, targeting the rising demand for point-and-shoot cameras despite smartphone competition. The ZS99 offers a 24-720mm Leica DC lens with 30x optical zoom and features upgrades like USB-C and Bluetooth V5.0. It also includes 4K video recording at 30fps and improved wireless connectivity. The camera will retail at $499.99 from mid-February 2025.

Panasonic is releasing the Lumix ZS99, a new addition to its range of point-and-shoot cameras, despite the significant challenge from smartphones. The ZS99, which follows the ZS80 series, retains its 20.3-megapixel sensor and 3-inch tilting screen but introduces new elements such as a USB-C port in place of the former micro USB and improved wireless capabilities.

One of the most notable enhancements is the 24-720mm Leica DC lens, capable of achieving 30x optical zoom and up to 60x digital zoom. Additionally, the camera supports Bluetooth V5.0 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, alongside a dedicated button for quick media transfers to smartphones or other devices.

This camera is designed for both photography and videography enthusiasts, with a battery life of up to 380 shots per charge and 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. Priced at $499.99, the Lumix ZS99 will be available in black or silver starting mid-February 2025.
