The Read.cv team, known for their capabilities in designing consumer and social experiences, will join Perplexity to continue their mission of making knowledge more accessible. Previously founded by Andy Chung, Read.cv offered resume sharing, website publishing, and organizational tools. Perplexity's acquisition aligns with its corporate-focused growth, following previous purchases of Carbon and Spellwise.

Perplexity, an AI-powered search engine, has acquired Read.cv, a professional social media platform competing with LinkedIn, which will wind down operations. As part of the transition, Read.cv users will be able to export their data until May 16, 2025, and its '.cv' domains will be migrated to Hello.cv starting January 31.

The Read.cv blog highlighted the excitement about joining Perplexity to enhance their shared mission of exploration and discovery, a sentiment echoed by Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas. Founded in 2021 by Andy Chung, a seasoned product designer, Read.cv enabled professionals to share resumes and offered organization-focused capabilities like job listings.

Backed by F7 Ventures and Fanjul Capital, Read.cv operated with around three employees in West Berkeley. As Perplexity continues to emphasize corporate-related developments, it is supported by substantial investment, raising $500 million and valued at $9 billion, reflecting investor expectations for a considerable return.
