Phison steals Micron's PCIe 5 SSD crown after just one day with a 122TB drive
Phison unveils a 122TB PCIe 5 SSD, overtaking Micron's 60TB with faster read speeds.
Phison took the lead in the tech race by releasing the Pascari D205V, a data center SSD boasting 122.88TB, doubling the capacity of Micron's recent 60TB PCIe Gen 5 model. This release came just hours after Micron set a new standard with its 6550 ION SSD.
Phison's Pascari D205V surpasses Micron's model with 14.6GB/s sequential read speed and 3 million IOPs, a leap from Micron's 12GB/s and 1.6 million IOPs. Despite this, Micron's 6550 ION holds its ground with a superior write speed of 5GB/s against Phison's 3.2GB/s.
Both companies market their SSDs for AI data centers, highlighting efficiency and space conservation. While Micron's SSD is energy-efficient at 20W under load, Phison's uses slightly more at 25W. Phison plans to showcase its innovations at the SC24 event, including their first PCIe 6.0 redriver.
