Razer Zephyr mask buyers will soon receive over $1 million in refunds following FTC settlement
Razer to refund $1M to Zephyr mask buyers after FTC settlement.

Razer commits to refunding over $1 million to 6,764 customers who purchased Zephyr masks, as part of a settlement with the FTC. This resolution comes in response to significant consumer dissatisfaction and accusations regarding false marketing of the masks as 'N95-grade' when they did not meet official certification standards.
The FTC's investigation revealed that while Razer claimed the masks had 99% BFE and filtered air particles, independent tests showed they failed to meet N95 criteria, with performance dipping below required levels. Payments are to be sent automatically through checks and PayPal to affected consumers, who do not need to submit claims as information is already recorded from Razer.
Razer's action to settle includes a civil penalty of $100,000 beyond refunds, despite already having returned funds to a small percentage of U.S. buyers before the legal action. The FTC criticized Razer for inadequate communication regarding refund policies and rejecting many refund requests previously, citing the product's use and return policy limitations.
