Ryzen 9 9950X Blender benchmarks show massive performance improvements over the 7950X
Ryzen 9 9950X shows major performance gains over 7950X in Blender tests, potentially offering a 20% improvement with better power efficiency.
AMD's Ryzen 9 9950X is set to launch soon and early benchmarks by Anandtech forum user Igor_Kavinski reveal it offers a substantial upgrade over the Ryzen 9 7950X. Specifically, the 9950X showcased significantly higher Blender benchmark scores across multiple TDPs, indicating improved performance and power efficiency for tasks such as 3D modeling and rendering.
At 90W, the Ryzen 9 9950X scored 486.9 points in Blender, while the 7950X at 170W scored 599.2 points, highlighting the 9950X’s efficiency. In tests at 230W, the 9950X scored around 20% higher than the 7950X in specific benchmarks like Monster, Junkshop, and Classroom, with the 9950X achieving scores of 353.4, 226.2, and 171.3 respectively.
The performance gains are even more noteworthy considering the 9950X was tested using an engineering sample with a lower boost speed of 5.62 GHz compared to its official turbo clock of 5.7GHz. Notably, the test system utilized AMD's Precision Boost Overdrive and water cooling, maintaining thermals below 62 degrees Celsius, further emphasizing the chip's capabilities.
