Salesforce acquires Moonhub, a startup developing AI tools for hiring
Salesforce partially acquires Moonhub to bolster AI hiring tools, integrating a talented team from Moonhub into its AI strategy.

Salesforce has integrated part of Moonhub into its operations, despite Moonhub itself closing down. The news was initially reported as an acquisition but later clarified by Salesforce as a team integration rather than an acquisition. Moonhub, co-founded by Nancy Xu in 2022, specialized in artificial intelligence tools aimed at enhancing the hiring process and had raised $14.4 million from investors such as Salesforce and Khosla Ventures.
Moonhub’s team, along with their AI expertise, will play a critical role in advancing Salesforce's AI capabilities. According to Nancy Xu, Moonhub's CEO, Salesforce has been instrumental as both an investor and a customer, sharing common goals and values concerning AI's potential to stimulate innovation and provide opportunities globally.
The partial acquisition aligns with Salesforce’s recent trend of acquiring cutting-edge technology startups to fortify its AI and automation tools. Just a week prior, Salesforce concluded the $8 billion purchase of Informatica, enhancing its data management capabilities, and also acquired Convergence.ai the previous month for automation and AI products.
Moonhub provided AI-driven tools that automated various HR tasks, including candidate identification, onboarding, and payroll management, allowing companies to streamline recruitment and enhance efficiency. Despite automation's controversial reception among job seekers, AI tools are progressively becoming integral to HR practices in large corporations, with 93% of Fortune 500 chief HR officers reportedly integrating these technologies, per a Gallup poll.
The move also demonstrates Salesforce's commitment to leading in AI innovations, tapping into Moonhub's technology and expertise to enhance its offerings. This strategy is particularly significant amid an era where venture capital investment in AI startups continues to surge, pushing the boundaries of how companies recruit, evaluate, and manage talent efficiently.
