Sony has officially announced the PS5 Pro, marking a significant upgrade from the original PS5. Priced at $699.99, the new console boasts a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing capabilities, and custom AI-driven upscaling technologies, with its release set for November 7th. Preorders will be available starting September 26th. According to Mark Cerny, the lead architect, the PS5 Pro will enable a 45 percent faster rendering of games and higher frame rates without losing visual fidelity.

The enhanced rendering and new features like PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) will ensure better frame rates and image quality similar to Nvidia’s DLSS. Games such as The Last of Us Part II and new titles like Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will benefit greatly. The PS5 Pro will introduce the “Game Boost” feature to improve 8,500+ backward-compatible PS4 game performances.

Additional features include Wi-Fi 7, VRR, and 8K resolution support. It also comes with a larger 2TB SSD, an extra rear USB-C port, and still retains an extra SSD slot for expansion. Nearly 50 PS5 Pro Enhanced games, including titles like Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will offer improved resolutions and frame rates by its launch.
