Tesla recalls 1.8 million vehicles over risk of detached hoods
Tesla recalls 1.8 million vehicles due to a risk of detached hoods, among other issues. Includes Model 3, S, X, and Y vehicles.
Tesla has initiated a recall for 1.8 million vehicles across the United States due to a risk of detached hoods. This recall, reported by Reuters, was announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration due to concerns over software failure not properly notifying drivers about the hood issue.
The affected vehicles include select Model 3, Model S, and Model X vehicles from the years 2021 to 2024, as well as Model Y vehicles from 2020-2024. The main issue is that an unsecured hood could detach while driving, obstructing the driver’s view and posing serious safety concerns.
To address this problem, Tesla has issued an over-the-air software update designed to rectify the issue. This year alone, Tesla has faced several recalls, including issues with backup cameras, warning light texts, seatbelts, and windshield wipers across various models and production years.
